Richard Smith MA, VetMB, MRCVS

Richard was born and grew up in Cardiff, and as a schoolboy always wanted to be a vet. He was lucky enough to gain an introduction to the Sanders practice in Pontnewydd, Cwmbran, where he spent as much of his spare time as he could while at school and university. Richard qualified from the University of Cambridge School of Veterinary Medicine in June 1984. After two years spent in small animal practice in Birmingham and three years at the Sanders Practice in Pontnewydd, he opened the practice in New Inn in August 1989. Richard has one son, born in the same year as the practice started. Richard's leisure interests include cars and driving, eating out around Monmouthshire, walking his two labradors, and computers and the internet.
