James Wood MRCVS

James, originally from Inverness, grew up and was educated in Gran Canaria and Spain. After qualifying from The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Leon, he returned to the UK in 1997and joined The Croeso Veterinary Hospital, Cardiff's only small animal veterinary hospital. After two experience-packed years James moved on to London where, after initially taking up a position with a well known small animal veterinary group, he finally accepted a post as a Veterinary Officer at the prestigious RSPCA Sir Harold Harmsworth Memorial Hospital, home of the popular BBC series "Animal Hospital". During his time there, and influenced by hospital director David Grant, James developed his pragmatic and common-sense style of veterinary medicine. Eventually he returned to South Wales and worked at a number of small animal practices before joining the Fairwater & New Inn surgeries where he now is a partner.
James has a keen interest in all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery. In his spare time he enjoys being with his family, growing his own vegetables and reading a good book accompanied by a glass of Spanish red wine. He currently lives in Cardiff with his family, four cats, one tortoise and his faithful black Labrador, Fraser, who also is the practice's "official" canine blood donor.
